Anchor stamping

For toothbrushes, the anchor stamping or press cutting procedure is used exclusively. As the tufts are fixed into the side walls of the hole with pieces of flattened wire, even thin brush bodies can be stamped using this procedure.

The stamping wire is fed from a roll into the tool and cut off. The resulting piece of flat wire is approximately 2 mm long and 1.4 mm wide. The force of the stamping tongue presses it onto the prepared tufts of bristles.

The flat wire which has been further shaped by the stamping tongue folds the tufts.

The flat wire and tuft of bristles are pressed into the hole in the brush body, with the wire, which is slightly wider than the diameter of the hole, becoming anchored in the side walls and fixing the tuft of bristles.

This procedure is repeated approximately 830 times per machine minute, producing around 20 toothbrushes.

The bristles of the toothbrush then have to be rounded off to prevent the tooth enamel from getting scratched and the gums damaged while brushing your teeth. Therefore, the bristles are rounded after they have been fitted into the head and after profiling.
